My daughter, Ellie, is 6.5 years old. She was instructed to draw this frog (her choice) in pencil. When I arrived at her art class, her teacher pulled me aside. She was astounded at how well Ellie could draw! Ellie was doing things that she had never been taught – recognizing negative space, seeing proportions, shapes, etc, etc. But the cutest thing was her absolute pride in how well she did. It was almost as great as mine!

*I should note that up until she drew this, she had mainly drawn bugs and mermaids – nothing even close to as complicated as this! I can’t stress how different this is from anything she’s ever drawn.
